    2/5,
"Decent - not for high temp"
Pros - simple to use, easy to read display
Cons - silicone cable has melted, not accurate
I've used this thermo for years and am now looking for a new one (looking at Maverick as a budget friendly option). I thought this worked fine for the first couple years (mostly used in the oven). Last year I started using if for grilling/smoking and I think I damaged the probe during a flareup incident on the grill. Now this an the other thermo probe unit (a cheapy from Menards) will show very different temps. Also the silicone on the probe is melted off one section where it was touching the grill/cover.

Stay away spend your money on something better.

Pros - Looks nice, relatively inexpensive
Cons - Not safe for temps above 392 degrees
Got this for Christmas.  Mine was branded Food Network and it was purchased at Kohl's but it's the same unit.  I was astonished upon opening that the instructions clearly stated that it was not to be used at oven temperatures above 392 degrees!  The listed temperature range above implies that the 392 limit is for the food temp, but that is NOT what the instruction sheet indicates.  Upon looking at other, similar units, I've found that all of the ones with silicone cables specify relatively low operating temps and the ones with metal cables are for higher temps.

Returned to the store and ordered a Maverick.

    Buyer beware!

Thanks, saw this one at Target, yesterday and almost bought it, but I couldn't find any documentation on the cables.
