Cons - Have to keep adding wood chips to it. If you put in too many at once, it doesn't smoke as well.
This is actually my second one of this model. I had the first one 9 years, and when I went to use it, it would not start. I replaced the element, and discovered that some of the wires were corroded. After I bought a new one, my son-in-law tinkered with the old one and got it working again... so I gave it to him.
I have used it to smoke ribs, turkey, chicken, sausage, and jerky. I even cured and smoked a venison ham. I have been very pleased with the results.
