Pros - DOES WELL ON ANY KIND OF MEAT
Cons - RUSTED OUT IN TWO YEARS OF USE.
USED MOSTLY TO SMOKE SALMON. DID TURKEYS, CHICKEN, AND RIBS. THIS LAST YEAR IT STARTED RUSTING IN THE INSIDE. IT IS TO THE POINT THAT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE IT. SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET MORE THAN TWO YEARS OUT OF A SMOKER.

    3/5,
    "Disappointment all around"
    Pros - good insulation
Cons - cheaply constructed, faulty wiring, faulty digital timer, hot spots
I have had this smoker for a few years.  The quality of the food that it produced was on par with my old ECB.  But the main problem I had with this is the quality.

I had to replace the wiring after it burned up.

I had to replace the digital temp controls.

I didnt realize how cheaply made this thing was until I purchased a new smoker that is made in the USA.  the MES looks and feels like junk compared to the new one (Smokin-it).

I had the last straw when i put in 2 temperature probes and they differed by about 50 degrees after getting up past 200.

My digital temp control is broke again, and i refuse to spend anymore money with these guys.

If you are new to smoking, this might be fine, if you are looking to upgrade from a ECB price range, save your money and step it up to a quality product.

    Good riddance

    "Very good"
Pros - Easy to operate - uses wood efficiently
Cons - A bit low to the ground and hard to move (anc because of the electronice should not be left out) - legs and wither wheels or side handles would be goo
A new smoker but I'm impressed - so far I've only done hot smoking (220 to 275) but it claims to go down to 100 (although I wonder how much smoke it will produce at low temps - I will try soon

Can you tell us a little about the weather where you live, the storage environment, covered or uncovered, indoors or out?  Mine is just a couple of months old and I'd like to keep it until I want to upgrade, which may be never.

Did an 8 lb Prime Rib - 5 hours at 220 degrees - three loads of Jack Daniels bourbon oak chips mixer with equal parts Apple wood - stood two hours after smoking - wonderful medium rare - nice smoke - and love the ease of the digital control - so far a pork butt - thick pork chops and prime rib - all came out great with minimum effort - biggest issue is it has to be kept inside and it is difficult to move with no wheels and no handles - I did find the official cover for it at Amazon.com

Letting you know that the pork shoulder turned out great. Seemed kind of strange not having to mess with it adjusting the temp or anything.
Trying a brisket and a large pork butt this weekend.

just bought one today, been dealing with a charcoal upright Brinkman for a while, great for smaller stuff, however charcoal is difficult to maintain for a large pork butt or brisket for 10-12 hours, i've heard there can be problems with the heating element, hopefully that's not the case, will post reviews as i am seasoning it tomorrow.

Been smoking on one of these for the past year now, and I have to say its pretty good. For the price it's really excellent!!!

Just bought one too. Seasoned it the other day and I'm trying a small pork shoulder today. I'm about 2 hours away from pulling it out and wrapping it. Looks beautiful. Let you know how it tastes later.

I just got this and let me say that it was so easy to assemble use. Assembly was really just attaching the leads of the controls and screwing it down. Nothing too hardf at all.
It came up to 275F very fast - less than 25 minutes. It would keep temperature very well and recover quickly after opening the door to spritz.
The seal is perfect and there was not one single leak of smoke on the cabinet.
Cabelas has this online for $189.99.
Well worth it! My first smoke was FANTASTIC! I credit that to excellent equipment and the tremendous KBase in this forum.

I have the same complaints about mine. It needs handles. Have you attached some yet? If so, do you have pictures? I noticed on the new ones they have back wheels, and a handle that runs the lenth of the back.
