Pros - Ease of use, Propane, All around good smoker
Cons - Could maybe be a little wider
I bought my Smoky Mountain Vertical Smoker back in 2008 at Wal-Mart and was a bit hesitant, because I had always used charcoal smokers, but after discovering how easy to use propane smokers are, I'll never go back.  Like I said, this unit is over 5 years old and still going strong, and I do a lot of smoking.  As far as durability and taste goes, you can't beat it.

I like the fact that it heats up quickly

The lowest temperature I was able to maintain on a hot day was 200 deg. F, which was plenty low for hot smoking. The unit can get quite hot turned up to high.

I bought a Pro Q cold smoke generator for cold smoking with this smoker. I'll write a review for the Pro Q too. It worked well and gave me 6 hours of cold smoke @ 90 deg. F on a hot day.

I bought this smoker at WallyWorld, ship free to store.

I've used it about 6 times so far, with great results.

Quality is fair. It arrived with the sides pushed in a bit. No big deal.

I did a little "custom body work" and all was well.

The temperature control and regulator are cheesey but work for now.

The door thermometer is accurate. I checked it.

The drip/water pan is too small, doesn't catch all drips. I will look for another.

The door leaks smoke. The wood chunk box is small.

But, for the money, it does what it's supposed to do. I like the size. It won't accommodate a full slab of ribs, but has three racks. No biggie. It's light enough for me to move around, too!

All in all, not too bad at all!

I have this model in Stainless with the wire door handle and the Smokey Mountain Series temp gauge. I have a digital temp gauge to install and plan on lowering the chip pan an inch for lower temp smoke.
