Pros - Dual temp probes, easy clean up, ability to sear
Cons - poor seal on the door and major temp swings
I just got my WW SG24 a week ago. I picked it specifically for the addition of the sear box. I wanted the ability to slow cook a steak to a perfect mid-rare then sear it. My first use was doing just that for a prime strip and it was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. My issues with the smoker began to show on my next use which was a 15hr smoke on a brisket. I used a thermotemp wireless thermometer to monitor the smokebox temp and found wild swings. Set on 225 gave me temp swings anywhere from 190 to 260. From what I've read, this seems to be normal for this smoker. I am still happy with my purchase and would recommend this but I will likely end up forking out more cash to upgrade the control unit.

Pros - Work correctly right out of the box. Quality is very good.
Cons - Screws on end plates that one needs to remove to install the Sear box were too tight from the factory. Impact drill was needed to break loose.
I called Camp Chef about the too tight screws and they said they hadn't heard that complaint before my call. I was finally able to borrow a neighbors small vise grips that would fit behind the frame. Camp Chef said they would be happy to replace the complete grill, but I had already fully assembled it and really didn't want to break it down for shipping and assemble a new one. I have made about 15 or so cooks with it so far and all have been successful. The Sear Box has been used to sear some sous vide steaks and works perfectly for that. I would not have any problem recommending this brand/model to anybody.

Pros - First and foremost the sear station and then the dump on the burn pot is the bomb. Also like the ability to easily dump pellets if changing to a different flavor smoke. Lots of stainless and a handy access hole for the temperature probes.
Cons - Haven't found one yet.
I absolutely love this thing. Like all pellet smokers, the amount of smoke flavor isn't very bold but I resolve that with the A-Maze-N smoker maze and a combination of pellets and wood chips. Having the ability to score my meat is awesome, we also sear vegetables and have grilled some seafood very successfully. As far as pellet smokers go, I think this one has more bells and whistles. I have no regrets.

Best purchase of a cooking instrument I've ever made. I actually sold my BGE because it set under its cover and never was used after the first time I fired up my Woodwind. Smoking, grilling, baking...it does it all. Plus, the sear box on the side adds a whole other dimension. Couldn't be happier.

To judge other pellet grills against the Camp Chef Woodwind you have to look at the features and perhaps the smoke production and level of smoke flavor.

Camp Chef has come to the table with a better machine on both of those counts in my opinion.

    Smoke
I get much better smoke flavor with the Camp Chef and I even get better smoke rings. The Camp Chef model has a setting for "high smoke" that is engineered to run the auger in such a way that creates more smoke while maintaining the set temperature.

    Features
To the best of my knowledge, most of the features listed below are not ones that you can get for other pellet grills and they certainly do not come standard. These are well thought out features that make a pellet smoker easier to use and more productive.
    • Dump chute for hopper
    • Ash cup
    • Sear box
    • 2nd inside rack
    • Free shipping and a hassle free 3-year warranty
In case you can't tell, I'm a huge fan of the Camp Chef Woodwind!
