Pros - First and foremost the sear station and then the dump on the burn pot is the bomb. Also like the ability to easily dump pellets if changing to a different flavor smoke. Lots of stainless and a handy access hole for the temperature probes.
Cons - Haven't found one yet.
I absolutely love this thing. Like all pellet smokers, the amount of smoke flavor isn't very bold but I resolve that with the A-Maze-N smoker maze and a combination of pellets and wood chips. Having the ability to score my meat is awesome, we also sear vegetables and have grilled some seafood very successfully. As far as pellet smokers go, I think this one has more bells and whistles. I have no regrets.
Best purchase of a cooking instrument I've ever made. I actually sold my BGE because it set under its cover and never was used after the first time I fired up my Woodwind. Smoking, grilling, baking...it does it all. Plus, the sear box on the side adds a whole other dimension. Couldn't be happier.
To judge other pellet grills against the Camp Chef Woodwind you have to look at the features and perhaps the smoke production and level of smoke flavor.
Camp Chef has come to the table with a better machine on both of those counts in my opinion.
I get much better smoke flavor with the Camp Chef and I even get better smoke rings. The Camp Chef model has a setting for "high smoke" that is engineered to run the auger in such a way that creates more smoke while maintaining the set temperature.
To the best of my knowledge, most of the features listed below are not ones that you can get for other pellet grills and they certainly do not come standard. These are well thought out features that make a pellet smoker easier to use and more productive.
Dump chute for hopper
2nd inside rack
Free shipping and a hassle free 3-year warranty
In case you can't tell, I'm a huge fan of the Camp Chef Woodwind!
