I'm thinking this is Scaly Bark Hickory. A buddy sent me these pictures and said he's got 2 of these for the taking. Can anybody confirm that this is indeed Hickory?

The sweet, sweet smell of cherry!

Cut up a lot of cherry and man what a smell! It's completely dry and ready to go. The logs have been air drying in my shop for 4-5 years and today I decided to split them open! Also got some more hickory split. Can you tell hickory is my wood of choice? I have it everywhere.

    Pics of my wood shop.

In light of a recent thread about other hobbies were involved in, I thought I would share some pictures. I started wood working when I was 22(2 years ago), found it very relaxing and something that allows my creative juices to flow. I'm primarily a wood turner but have started doing a little...

Would anybody be interested in Hickory "shavings"

I'm a wood worker and wood turner and will be turning a lot of hickory in the next couple months. I would be willing to get rid of these if you would take care of shipping. Keep in mind these are shavings and not chips. Picture ribbon curls if that gives you a better idea.

Has anyone modded a Lang 36 patio?

I'm picking mine up in a couple weeks and was thinking of what I could do to make it that much better. I was thinking about installing a couple ball valves as dampers on the upper part of the firebox door to help push heat into the cooking chamber instead of just relying on the pin wheels...

Can anybody get me some peach wood?

I know it's available from retailers but would like to help somebody on the forum out. We do this kind of thing all the time on the other forums I belong to. If you have any peach to spare I will pay for the wood and the cost to ship. Looking for splits rather than chunks. Thanks Josh.

Anybody using a Lang 36 patio deluxe?

I will be ordering a lang 36 patio by the end of the week. However I can't decide between the original or the deluxe with warmer box. Is the deluxe with warmer box worth it? Can you cook inside the warmer box?

    Attention Lang 36" patio owners!

After a complication at Acadamy Sports I'm turning my attention to Lang. Interested ine the 36" patio and 36" deluxe patio. I have a few questions. What is the capacity for any given meat? Shoulder? Brisket? Ribs? Are they really as easy to cook on as everybody says? And if you could do it again...

Tel-tru worth the price? Any other suggestions?

I'm picking up my news smoker in about 2 weeks. I'm spending $1500 on a smoker and I want quality thermos on it. I will be purchasing a maverick later but want some analogue thermos also. I like tru-tel's but having a hard time swallowing the $80 it's gonna be for 2 thermos. Are they worth it...

Finally got a copy of Jeff's book!

If you haven't got a copy for yourself yet, you need to. UPS dropped mine off yesterday and sat down for probably 2 hours skimming through it and I honestly believe it's gonna take my BBQ to the next level! If you don't have a copy get one!
