I am taking the route of sealing every gap and air leak to the point of being able to extinguish the fire by restricting air. I think that is how the WSM can use the minion method to smoke for hours on end.
I have ECB model where the charcoal pan sits inside the body.
I have put Weber vents top and bottom, sealed the top, put legs on the charcoal pan, and put fiberglass rope around the bottom to help seal the charcoal pan (but it doesn't).
I cannot get the smoker to stay at a constant temp below...
