    Smokin' n00b w/MES Considering AMNPS... But Why?

    I am curious as to where you put it in the MES.  Do you just put it on the bottom rack?  If so, does it not get affected by the juice dripping?  Can you just put in a partial load of pellets for say a couple hours of smoke?  Sorry for all the questions but never used one before.

    Thanks Diesel and Dan.  First one is tough, I can pretty much tell you the time it goes up a degree, should probably just quit watching the thermometer ;).  Pics coming when it is done.

    Moved the butt smoking up to today.  It has been in for just under 4 hours and temp up to 144.  Will probably foil at 165 and bring up to 200 and then rest in cooler for about an hour, I hope anyway.  What temp should I expect the stall to hit?

    I have a 5.5 lb Boston Butt and plane to set the smoker at 240.  The plan is to eat around 7:00 PM so my planned start time is 8:00 AM.  Think that is enough time?

    I am having some friends over this weekend for my birthday and plan on smoking a butt.  Just looking for some advice on time and temp as this is the first one in my MES 40.  From what I have read was thinking around 230 and 1.5 hrs per pound.  Any advice will be appreciated as I want this to...
