chargriller fan here.Cast iron grates,hinged lid,lots of space.Mines around 15 years old now,and still going strong.
The side firebox was the worst thing i did to mine.but it is a great grill.
I have 2 racks in mine,with Weber lid.First one is about a inch down from top and the second is about 5 inches below that.I do use a diffuser,that is nothing more than a piece of foil with holes poked in it on another grate that is about 6 inches above the the fire basket.
I use a Weber rack about 5 inches above basket,with a strip of foil across it that I poke holes in.Woks good and easy clean up.
I wish I would have kept the top that I cut out of it, and made one out of it.
This guy makes a lot of charcoal and looks like a simple method.I'm going to try it as soon as I find some barrels .

I have a 98 TJ with a 3 inch lift,33 tires.Absolutely the worst vehicle I have ever owned when it comes to ice or slick conditions.Throw in a cross wind and it will get away from you in a split second if your not ready.
