Has anyone ever calculated the power(watts) used to smoke with the MES 40 1200watt? MES 30?
I would not think it would be more than $5.00 for a 8 hr smoke at 225 degrees.

One 6 and one 7lbs. I ASSume I estimate the cookig time by combining the weight(13lbs) x 2hrs(my favorite).
I do however cook until the temp is right, but I use a time estimate to schedule my naps and drinks.
I Setup my MES30 for smoking a 10 pound pork Butt by setting the panel temp to 225 and inserting two separate probes down the smoke vent.
When the panel show the temp at 225 the two probes showed 235 and 240. So I adjusted the MES to 205 then the probes were at 225 to 230.
I started...
This happend about 4 times with cooking a butt and two chickens. It was like someone hit the off button.
I unplugged it from the wall and plugged it back in and it started working again. Model 20070511 mes 30 black.
You veteran MES users have any ideas? The breaker never tripped.

OBJECTIVE: Smoke even when raining, of cold and windy.
PLAN: Bolt the garage door so wifey does not come in. Place the mes30 near a window. Run a flex pipe(dryer vent hose) from the MES exhaust up to the top of the window(while open) this would make it about 6 feet above the MES exhaust...
