I am in the Louisville Metro area. New here to the group and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is James, some people call me Jimmy. I am a novice smoker (still making beginner mistakes) I cook on a Oklahoma Joe Highland. My first smoker was a vertical Weber knock off.
I tend to smoke...
So for the last year I've been on the fence about buying a Convection Plate from Horizon Smokers (http://www.horizonbbqsmokers.com)
I finally decided to buy it. I haven't received it yet as I just put in the order almost 2 weeks ago. My question was for anyone using this where do you put you...
We decided to have some friends come by Sunday for a late lunch to watch a few games GO VIKINGS!!! The night before I decided to put on a butt and a slab of ribs. I was lazy I didn't trim up my ribs I just removed the membrane. I seasoned it up with a pre-made season "Sweet Rub of Mine". Got...
I was told by a few people to take a look at Horizon Smoker website to pick up a tuning plate to help control the heat flow. I sent them an email just to get some general information about the products they sell. They never answered back.
I measured the inside of my smoker and it's 40 in from...
So I went from a Master Forge Smoker 29 aka Green Machine to a Masterbuilt 1,200-Watt Electric Vertical Smoker on to the new Oklahoma Joe Longhorn model. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. I would have been happier if I could have gotten the Brinkman Trailmaster simply due to reduced amount of...
I'm still a starter in the ring of electric smoking. I've used my smoker 2 times and have had really good turn outs with pulled pork. My question though deals more with power consumption. I got my first power bill and I was SHOCKED to say the least as it's a lot higher than it normal ever has...
So my fiance asked "Hey what do you want for Christmas?" My first thought was 1 million dollars but I didn't want her to rob a bank for me. The only thing that came to mind was I need another smoker something easier to deal with over charcoal vertical I have. I had been watching the forums and...
So I tried my hand at my first fatty. I thought because there are so many fun things you can throw in there I'd let my fiance pick a few ingredients. Plus this was a good way of getting her involved in what I enjoy too!
Next time I make one I plan on avoiding Johnsonville sausage. As it cost...
About 6 hours on the smoker. over 12 hours in the oven on low. I didn't use mustard on this one and like how the bark came out. I will make the finishing sauce tonight, drain some of the juice out of the pan.
Was able to get 2 slabs of Pork ribs on the smoker yesterday's storm rolled in. Took a try at wrapping the rubbed ribs in plastic wrap and I have to say I like it! Also, I decided to use 2 store bought rubs. Kroger Signature Sweet and Spicy and Rib rub. Ribs came out AWESOME!
So a friend of mine at work got hired on full time and to celerbrate we are doing an office pot luck. Well she asked if I would maybe smoke some meat for her. I feel pretty honored to be asked to cook but to smoke something wow LOL. We have roughly about 20 employee's that are going to eat and...
My wife started off my smoking career with a small vertical smoker (Forgemaster Charcoal Smoker) I have to say it was a great smoker and easy to use for a beginner that required 0 mods. However, I have decided I want to move up to Brinkmann 40" Smoke n Pit master. I like the idea of loading a...
Today has been a good day. First things first I had to figure out what meat other than a whole chicken frier to throw on the smoker for tomorrow (*today)
Stopped by the local butcher and a Packers cut was about 4.00 per lb. Pretty good price. However, something in my gut was screaming at me to...
My name is James but people call me Jimmi. 31 years old and live in Kentucky. I am a newborn charcoal smoker. Last year around Christmas my family decided to smoke out the dinner. We had ribs, sausage, and chicken all smoked. When that meat hit my mouth that was it! I did nothing but look up...
