    OK Joe Mod question

I was told by a few people to take a look at Horizon Smoker website to pick up a tuning plate to help control the heat flow. I sent them an email just to get some general information about the products they sell. They never answered back. I measured the inside of my smoker and it's 40 in from...

New Oklahoma Joe Owner - Modding Question

So I went from a Master Forge Smoker 29 aka Green Machine to a Masterbuilt 1,200-Watt Electric Vertical Smoker on to the new Oklahoma Joe Longhorn model. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. I would have been happier if I could have gotten the Brinkman Trailmaster simply due to reduced amount of...

    New to Electric Smoking

I'm still a starter in the ring of electric smoking. I've used my smoker 2 times and have had really good turn outs with pulled pork. My question though deals more with power consumption. I got my first power bill and I was SHOCKED to say the least as it's a lot higher than it normal ever has...

Beef Brisket and Picnic Pork Shoulder vs New Masterbuilt Electric Smoker

So my fiance asked "Hey what do you want for Christmas?" My first thought was 1 million dollars but I didn't want her to rob a bank for me. The only thing that came to mind was I need another smoker something easier to deal with over charcoal vertical I have. I had been watching the forums and...

    First Fatty with Q-View

So I tried my hand at my first fatty. I thought because there are so many fun things you can throw in there I'd let my fiance pick a few ingredients. Plus this was a good way of getting her involved in what I enjoy too! Next time I make one I plan on avoiding Johnsonville sausage. As it cost...

    Boston Butt

About 6 hours on the smoker. over 12 hours in the oven on low. I didn't use mustard on this one and like how the bark came out. I will make the finishing sauce tonight, drain some of the juice out of the pan.

    Pork Spare Ribs with Qview

Was able to get 2 slabs of Pork ribs on the smoker yesterday's storm rolled in. Took a try at wrapping the rubbed ribs in plastic wrap and I have to say I like it! Also, I decided to use 2 store bought rubs. Kroger Signature Sweet and Spicy and Rib rub. Ribs came out AWESOME!

Upgrading from Vertical to Horizontal Smoker

My wife started off my smoking career with a small vertical smoker (Forgemaster  Charcoal Smoker) I have to say it was a great smoker and easy to use for a beginner that required 0 mods. However, I have decided I want to move up to Brinkmann 40" Smoke n Pit master. I like the idea of loading a...

Brisket Prepped and Ready for Tomorrow

Today has been a good day. First things first I had to figure out what meat other than a whole chicken frier to throw on the smoker for tomorrow (*today) Stopped by the local butcher and a Packers cut was about 4.00 per lb. Pretty good price. However, something in my gut was screaming at me to...
