A warning if you MIcrowave you AMNPS pellets to dry them

As a general rule, I do microwave my AMNPS pellets to dry them.  I had an "experience" the other day which I feel necessary to share.  My microwave is a 1200W and I use full power for the pellets.  This time I microwaved them for 3 minutes.  When I took the pellets out of the microwave some were...

    Smoking Meat in Beijing

I spent last week attending a conference in Beijing.   One day, walking around I saw this restaurant and had to try it. I got a 3 way meal: smoked brisket, chicken and beef ribs.  They were certainly acceptable and a welcome surprise and change in Beijing!

    I just had a thought....

I haven't seen this idea posted anywhere, and I was wondering if some has already tried it.  Think standard ABT's, either whole or boat style.  OK, now (Oh the horror, the horror) cool them off to room temperature.  Bread them and deep fat fry them to make ABT POPPERS! Has anyone tried that?

    AMNPS "Burn time"

Please note that this is NOT a complaint! I have been really grateful for the recent posts about people using the AMNPS.  I have seen comments from several people indicating that they got burn times which were significantly less than the 10 - 11 hours I had seen earlier.  I have been getting...

    It just arrived last night....

I was talking with my bride about my smoker. I mentioned that I wanted to try overnight smokes for big pork butts and to experiment with brisket (since I have never done these). When I was a boy, we had a house fire and I have never felt comfortable leaving an open fire overnight and since I...

Got a new AMNPS. Where should I put it in a GOSM BB?

I've been looking forward to using my AMNPS.  I will be smoking a rack of spares in my GOSM Big Block today at about 225 degrees. Does anybody have any recommendations for the best location inside the smoker for the AMNPS?

I made my bride say "ooooooo" again! (First try at Dino Bones)

Up here in New England, I haven't been able to find beef ribs for Dino Bones, up until yesterday.  We were stocking the freezer for smokes in the future, when I found BEEF BACK RIBS.  They had been cut apart and pccked into 3-4 rib packs, but they looked really nice and I bought 2 for today...

    Pitched a doubleheader today.....

Having dinner a couple of months ago with my dad, I mentioned that I smoked ribs.  He said, "I love ribs".  Dead shock....I mean, I lived with the guy for, basically, 21 years and I never knew that.  Wow, kick in the head time.  Anyway I filed that away and told myself "next time I make ribs, I...

    Congratulations, Cabela's, you win!

I went to Cabelas.com so I could order some food grade lubricant for my new 11 lb stuffer.  When I got there, to find the lube, I entered the keyword "Sausage" into the search window.  It showed the lube, which i put into my shopping cart, but it also showed this...

Last smoke of 2010 (for me, anyways)

I had planned a calm day, smoking some ribs and generally easing my way in to 2011.  It started that way but it became complicated.  I had a regular rack of ribs, from Market Basket, in the fridge and took 'em out about 6:45 AM: I had mixed up my rub last night so that today would be...
