what was your first car to drive

First one I drove was Dad's '72 F250 Camper Special, 360 with an oil bath air cleaner + 4 on the floor. My first car was a 1970 Ford Torino GT, 351 Cleveland. That 'ol Mule held it's own against my buddy's '73 Nova w/ a 4 barrel & headers. ~R

    First Smoked Turkey + Qview

The bacon was only for moister, it didn't add flavor to the bird... For those that prefer to brine... I guess you won't have any bacon with your turkey! ~R PS.  Another idea is to save the drippings (mine contain smoked bacon fat) & add them to the turkey soup that you make the next day!

    First Smoked Turkey + Qview

First smoked bird.  I followed some of the recipe ideas from the fine folks at Smoking Meat Forums, thanks!  I used my 18 inch WSM, regular Kingsford, a gallon of water in the bowl & small amount of hickory, did not brine.  Weather was 39F & breezy at the start, dropped into the 20s F + 20mph...

WSM lid temp out of whack

Or slip the thermometer wires through the access door instead of the lid.

2nd brisket much better than 1st

Might it be that you "tasted" the marinade because you knew what it was? A rub containing salt should keep it juicy when wrapped in foil. Did you cook after the removing the foil too? ~Roger

    Pro Q smoker

I learned that the WSM has a "high temperature coating/ paint" on the mid section, the Pro Q doesn't. Pro Q doesn't warranty damage because of high heat to the stacker section. Here's the link http://www.fredsmusicandbbq.com/ProQ...prqexcel20.htm It's not much of a difference, but it was enough...
