    UDS Paint

Do you need to use heatproof paint for a UDS? The outside gets hot but not burning hot. Could I get away with normal spraypaint?

Closed top, used for engine oil - but they just don't use metal drums for food over here as far as I can work out. Now all the other bits I've identified on the internet need ordered and the build will begin. First UDS in Scotland? Don't know - but I can't wait to get is working. I've found...

Florida Keys - what to bring back?

Another BBQ'er from over this side of the pond is heading over to the Keys on holiday & has asked what BBQ treats (ingredients/equipment etc) he should fill his case with to bring back, I know there's a lot of Floridians on this forum, so folks, what would you recommend? Thanks, Rod

    Happy Thanksgiving all

Hope you're all enjoying a fine time with your famillies & friends. I think we screwed up over here embracing your style of Halloween instead of Thanksgiving - a festival to be proud of. We'll be having Turkey at the weekend in tribute

    Currant wood?

Just been helping the Faither (Dad) pruning the black, red & white currant bushes with extreme prejudice. Lots of branches from 1in to 1/2 in thick. Did a test, burning a bit on the gas cooker, smoke was extremely sweet - sweeter than plum wood. Going to cut them up (4-6in peices) and leave...

Advice? Bitumen paint on cast iron grill

Is this stuff likely to give off toxic or bad tasting fumes? The supplied grids for the charcoal in my smoker have given up the ghost, but I've found a cast iron drain cover that would fit just about perfectly (I was thinking it would also help regulate the temperature). Problem is it's got...

    A BIG thankyou!!

A couple of months back I decided to indulge myself and try 'proper' BBQ and get a smoker. Some searching on the web found me a small horizontal smoker & this forum, where a lot of people I'd never met took the time to reassure and advise me. Since then I've done some minor mods to make the...

    Buying first smoker

I've read a few threads on here about smokers & it's clear they're a lot cheaper in the US than over here in Scotland, with most offsets coming in at $400+ for the basic smoker. However I've foung this one, http://www.gardening-supply.co.uk/Me...ory_Code=BBQCH but am worried it'll be too small...
