Hello Brother Floridian,
I'm living down in the swamps by Lake Jessup, near Orlando.
I think you'll like it here at the Forum. I've searched the world over and haven't found nothin' mo' better to help me in learning to do the Q.
If y'all' are interested, we have a State Group for Florida...
Boomhower,
Always feed the HOA first.
Get them hooked on BBQ. Then get them started on their own builds and they will never give you any schlitz.
I love your build. The firebox is mil-spec awesome and the hinges are outtasight!
Home Owners Association: "HOA". Somehow that seems...
Thnx Jck,
I regret that I'll have to miss the S-FL gathering this year. I have a daughter getting married in November.
(I offered her a thousand dollard to elope but no deal.)
Anywho, I'm looking forward to learning and cooking with all y'all. You seem to be my kind of folks, proud to be from...
Thank you, Dave.
"NASAW", the design used by Team Urban Siege is maybe my best.
Ya know what? I don't recall seeing any smokers going in any of the firing pits. Hmmmmm!
I feel an idea coming on.
Danoj,
Please unscrew the valve and flood with water when you make the initial cut.
And please don't use a torch, use the angle grinder because the torch could boil the water and cause a water/metal splatter burst spoiling the cut.
Tom
Thanks for a great thread, fellas.
You've answered a lot of my questions before I even had to ask. I like that.
I'm still early in the early planning stages and a lot will depend on what I can find on the cheap but the plan is to use a flat RF reservoir plate with a bottom lip to hold a little...
Speaking as a latent engineer and not as an experianced Q Chef, which I am not (yet) I would venture a guess that because the firebox is off-sides, the hot air needed to cook must pass from the fire box to the cooking chamber.
Therefore, that passsage, the ports between chambers and the...
Hey Y'all,
I'm in if you'll have me.
I'm in Oviedo, just NE of Orlando.
I still learning to work my Weber Kettle but I have high hopes for growing bigger and creating a retirement income.
Before I got the Weber I did all my barbecue in a hole I dug in the back yard.
But I had to stop. Some...
Chef JimmyJ,
Thanks for responding. I bet you already know I was just kidding about where Yankee territory starts. Some folks just beg to get their legs pulled.
But about the folks from the Keys? They're kind of a group all to them selves. A lot of them claim to be from the Conch Republic which...
Yo, How You Dooin'?
That's about as much 'Northern' as I've learned. That and 'Frugedabaughdit'.
As much as I respect the swampers of Decatur and Northern Alabama, that word, "NORTHERN" should be a red flag. Its still 500 miles north.
But if you want to compare what a real Southern magazine...
Rabbithutch, Mr. T and S2K9K,
Thanks for your input.
If I understand all y'all correctly, you collectively say: Buy the thingy you want and make a hole to fit if you need to.
I'm too cheap for a Thermo Pen; $89.00 on sale, but making a hole is no problem if I have the right ammo.
Searched...
We make jerky in an old deep feeze set on end and useing a 100 watt light bulb for heat. No vent outside.
I'm not sure about the timing but it sure does turn out good.
I don't know how you would use smoke in a set up like his.
Best wishes, I can't wait to hear the results.
