I used Montreal Steak for my last two. The first one I used the seasoning right out of the jar. The second time I ground the seasoning in a confer grinder. I preferred the later.
I just came up with some sort of Newsletter from Google that showed an add for Longhandle Custom BBQ’s. The newsletter was from 1984. Given the lack of info I am wondering if Longhandle shut down before Google was a thing.
@daveomak got it. My pin wheel has some play in it which allows air to bypass it when closed. I looked at that tonight and thought that I needed to tighten it. I will do so. Thanks for the advice.
I am 2.5 hours into my attempt at minion. I started with a 3/4 full charcoal basket and I mixed in some wood chips. I put half a chimney of fully involved charcoal into a depression on the firebox side of the basket. All has gone well but it seems a bit too hot. I wanted to stay at 250 but it...
Forum Mates: I have looked on the inter webs and can’t find much on my backyard BBQ. Does anyone know anything about this guy? It was a Craigslist barn find from a few summers ago. She’s solid, 1/4 inch throughout but I don’t know anything else really. Just curious if the company is still...

Go to Craigslist and look for a quality smoker. Spend the time searching and something will pop. I bought a 30LX20D 1/4 inch offset for $125

I bought it for $650. I think I got a pretty good deal. We are painting it to make sure we get the rust off and make sure it doesn’t get worse. This sucker is a relic for sure and all in all in good shape.
I am going to try this tomorrow with a charcoal basket without the snake method. I am going to start with about 1/2 a chimney and dump it into a recess dig into the charcoal on the cook chamber side of the firebox. I will report back to how it works.
