Has anyone ever threw some store bought Ball Park franks in the smoker? I have the MES loaded with jerky and some salmon right now. I was gonna do some hot dogs on the grill later for lunch, but thought I might throw a few in the smoker to see what happens. I am sure they will either turn out...
I buy them in the bag like that. Then I will put 2 per pack with seasonings and vacum seal. Pop in the freezer until we use them. You cant beat the price!!
I did two racks last weekend using 3-2-1 and they fell apart. I went about 3.5 hours on stage one as the bones were not showing at 3 hours. When I took them out of the foil for the last hour in the smoker they fell apart. I had to be carefull with them. I will use this method again fer sure.
I usually throw a 1/2 dozen eggs in the smoker when it is going. I put them in shells and all. 4-6 hours at about 200 degrees. I look for the shells to get nice and brown. They dont get a lot of flavor, but why boil them in water when the smoker is going!!!

I put an aluminum pan on the bottom shelf in my MES to catch the drippings. Not one drop has come out the back yet. Might be an option for you, but you will loose one smoking shelf.
Well it sounds like my MES is normal. I wanted to be sure something was not wrong with it. What is the potatoe test? I am guessing stick the probe in a tater and see how it reads.

There was 0 wind. It was inside my garage with the door closed. The temp swing was showing from the temp probes from a Mavrick ET-7. I wonder if they must be in meat to work correctly. I just had them hanging in the MES.
Mine will flucate + / - 20-25 degrees.Also the digital readout is not close to the orobes from the Mavrick ET7. I have tested the probes in boiling water an they where good. I have had some spikes in temp to + 35 the setpoint. Things you see when sttting on a couch and remote thernoneter at uour...
