Not sure if this is the right spot to post this or not.

Good catch forgot about Humphrey's, they do have a GF model and they are based in Maine, most of their insulated cabinets are reverse flow similar to Backwoods Smokers. Thinking about it I'm pretty sure Myron Mixon sells a GF model as well.

    WSM not running hot enough

Yes that will work but I would also put a twist in the bend as well so when cooking meats they will line up front to back and not side to side. SS hooks from PBC (8) were $25 shipped and they will last a lifetime.

All the GF manufactures I know of are in GA, Stumps, Assassin, Deep South and Southern Q, all of them are top notch.

    WSM not running hot enough

It takes awhile to heat up cold water, I don't use water in the WSM it enables me to cook at the temperatures I want which is 275-350 and use less fuel doing it, replaced the water bowl with a clay saucer for a diffuser, sometimes I remove it cooking on the top grate directly over the coals or...

Initial burn-in in new 14.5" WSM

Nice little cooker, and FYI you don't need todo a burn in (season) a WSM there are no manufacturing residues/oils to burn off since they are enamel coated on the inside as well as the outside, light it and throw some food on it, if it's dirty wipe it down with a little soap and water then cook.

    Disaster strikes!!

Replaced the water pan with a clay saucer in my 18.5, gives me more room to load up the ring with charcoal on longer cooks and I use less fuel than using water in a pan, I usually cook at 275 to 350 and running it dry makes it easy to run at those temps.

    WSM 14"

I took four small SS hose clamps and attached the ring to the charcoal grate, now the ring and grate are one piece like a charcoal basket, easy to pickup and shake out.

Still trying to decide on what to buy

Bass get a Pitmaster IQ 110 for the WSM = set it and for get it, I have one and use it for times when I can't be home for the whole cook.  Have been looking at the Grand Slam myself but I am leaning towards the Smokin Brothers Premier 24 or Premier 30 (most likely the 30), the Fire Box is...

Considering Purchasing A Green Mountain Grills Daniel Boone Smoker - Your Thoughts?

A couple of other options are the Smokin Brothers Pellet Grill line and the Firecraft Q450, they are well built and made in the US. Was leaning towards purchasing a MAK 1 Star General but after looking at a Smokin Brothers Premier 24" and 30" I think I'll save a few bucks buy a Smokin Brothers...

    New Backwoods Party

It's going to last you a long time as long as it's kept out of the weather, you are cleaning out the charcoal and ash after every cook as you should, the biggest problem with BWS is the bottom rusting out.  I wouldn't worry about scrubbing down the grates just hit them really good with a grill...

    New Backwoods Party

You should be able to get 8 to 12 hours cook time depending on cooking temp and load 8 to 12 pounds of charcoal in the charcoal basket. Do you know how many pounds of charcoal you used for your cook? Congrats on your new smoker getting ready to pull the trigger on a G2 Chubby.

    Stumps Baby

I've looked at the Cajun Bandit Stackers before and was really thinking of ordering one for the Weber Performer, but I have a Weber Gasser which was a X-mas present so I have to keep it plus the Performer and WSM, I want to free up some space so the Assassin Grill will replace both the WSM and...

    Stumps Baby

Yeah I meant $1950 LOL, was in a hurry when I posted. I have a WSM 18.5 right now, I have been looking at the smaller Cabinet Smokers, Humphrey's Weeble, 270 Sumo and the Backwoods G2 Chubby, trying to keep my costs under $1800 including the shipping. I came across the Assassin Grill which is...
