I'm cooking a rib roast for dinner and want smoke flavor. I would like to start it on the MES and finish it in the oven.
Plan is to smoke for 2 hours on the MES at 240* and then move to the oven for the remainder for temp control.
Will 2 hours give enough flavor?

I picked up 2 chuck roasts at Sams (3 lb each) and put them on the smoker at between 220* and 240*. I waited 4 hours to put the probe in and they are both around 195*!
I am thinking I need to pull them, foil them and marinate them.
That was a quick smoke!
Thoughts?
I just did a search on Sam's website and they do not have an iGrill2 listed. I searched for Thermometer and found other options but not the iGrill2.

Well I put it too close to the heat and the plastic melted. It still mostly works (LCD on the transmitter does not work) but I do not think I can change the batteries. So, I am looking to replace it.

I had the same problem and contacted Maverick customer support. They told me that you need to turn off the transmitter first, then the receiver of the unit will still draw power. It seems to work wen I don't forget.

The smoker can get into the 300's. A butt requires a lot of maintenance given that you spray it every hour.
Beer can chicken is an idea.

I have had this smoker for about 9 months and have not had any good results. I recently purchased an AMAZN Tube Smoker for it and plan on using it today.
So any tips on using an MES with the AMAZN tube? Where do I put it in the smoker? Do I put chips in?

I gave up on the electric last night. I talked to Masterbuilt today and they said that the heating element should *touch* the chip tray and that I should bend the element up to touch it.
What size tube do most people use?

Ok, I have been doing some reading and I can't see similarities between my smoker and others so here are some pics.
Inside chip tray.
Intake hole.
Exhaust hole.
There are no other vents.
Did I but the wrong model?
caressing he heating element? It is a half inch away from the element. I figure that is my problem.
Oh and there is NO vent. Only a hole in the back for the smoke to escape.
