Went ahead and pulled the trigger on the GMG DB. My first smoke was a couple butts. Used the smoking tube and they turned out rather well (less smoky than the COS i used to use, but i expected that. the only thing I can say I didn't really care for was the traditional "spoke type" grilling...- pman5412

Looked at the PS's today and while the chargriller was less expensive the GMG just looked like a better build for $50 more. As far as how often i use it ... Getting ready to squeeze the trigger on a pellet smoker. While i would love to get a more expensive model, but my wife reminds me i must stay humble (< $600). Range Master digital remote single probe thermometer for $6.49
got a couple of these at my local ALDI's. nice little therm for the money. The only problem i am having with them is that the probes are wireless and apparently on the same transmitting frequencies. caused a bit of confusion trying to use them at the same time. Took half the shoulder and sliced it up, very moist and great flavor. Finishing the rest of the butt up to pull. Overall success I think -

my chargriller off set with completed mods, and the lovely 9 lb butt waiting for smoke tomorrow. Oh and btw phatbac, thanks for the great advice but i already have the thermometers and sipping beverages covered. ;-) -

Thanks Ray. I was actually planning on trying to get some slices off then continuing smoking, and pulling the rest. Got a good deal on the butt (9 lb/$13), so i am not so worried about experimenting a bit.
