    Explosive build....

Pot has hairline cracks to/from the holes I drilled for the grate support. Dunno if was because of the flash-over, or because of heat in general. I am definately going back to a cast iron chip tray. The aluminum roaster had melted clean through.

    Explosive build....

Latest build is concrete / masonry base with flower pot saucer as lid. (Dunno exactly what the pot is made of, but it is not terracota, and it's PITA to drill through.) Electric control via PLC. While taking pictures of it's maiden job. It exploded!. Not a catastrophic thing, rather, the lid...

    Smoker Body: Cast Concrete Cylinder?

I was hoping to avoid the whole Kiln thing. But hey if I could do it in clay - Carolina red clay that would have a nice tie in.

    Smoker Body: Cast Concrete Cylinder?

Found this forum when googling possible problems of cooking in concrete. Being a noob here, this may be heresy, but back in 2010 I built an electric, closed loop control, web enabled, text messaging meat smoker using two terra cotta flow pots, You can see the build here.... Since then I have...
