If you just want to do a trial run and not cut a hole in the pot for the exhaust just use a few dabs of high heat rtv silicone and glue it to the inside of the pot. Than you can set the right depth by trial and error might have to make a temporary lid for the stack to come through.
Hold on let me get my boots shit is getting deep!! Thanks for clearing that up. This is all new to me. I am learning a lot just surfing around on here!!
Just ordered the Maverick ET732 Long Range Wireless Dual 2 Probe BBQ Smoker Meat Thermometer. Can't wait to try it out. Would have came in handy for the turkey we smoked for the Super Bowl.

This is roughly what the stack will look like. Should I cut the elbow off and go straight down from the top or dose it not matter either way? I just like the look of it coming out of the side.
If I make a smoker identical to this one how much do you think I could sell it for? Wondering if there is a few bucks I could make building these. beats the hell out of fixing cars all weekend for side cash.
Thank you for all the info. That is good to know I thought the RF plate had to be air tight. That opens the door for some new ideas. Probably wont see much progress this week but hope to get it done this weekend. I will keep posting pics with more progress.
No I have one on the bottom too same size as the one on the door. Should be enough? I didn't use the smoker calculator just flying by the seat of my pants. I have a 4" stack for it that is about 4' long. will that be to long or to big in diameter? (Wish the girlfriend would tell me that);)
