    Diverter Issue

Hello tru334, and welcome to the forums. While it is best to have the RF plate sealed, this is mostly to keep grease from running to the bottom of the smoker. The 1/8" gap at the firebox end will let some heat escape resulting in a hot spot at that end, but that is a pretty small gap, so it...

My First Build - 120 Gallon on a trailer

Hello jasonlotz You are off to a great start. That is an ideal size tank for a RF smoker. Looking forward to more pics of your build. You might want to rethink your hinges... Having the pivot point so close to the seam makes it really difficult to put a sealing flange along the top of the door.

    Exhaust?

Yes it does. However too tall of a stack will allow the smoke to cool too much decreasing the draft or killing it altogether. Insulating the stack helps in this regard. With the relatively small fires and low BTUs in a smoker, you don't need a rip-roaring draft, and the 30"+ length is...

    Exhaust?

Truth is, it makes little difference if any. The "high stack" folks warn against "stale smoke", however the smoke and heat are dynamic, constantly moving, so there is no possibility of stale smoke. There is no area in the cook chamber in which the air/heat/smoke is not moving. The "low stack"...

    My RF Vision

Ribs most likely. Can't see letting the first fire go to waste. When I season it, I'll dial it down and throw some ribs on it.

    My RF Vision

It is officially done! Put the tadpole gasket on the CC door. Finished up a few odd and ends like adding a handle on the FB door and tapering the CC door latch pins to make them slide home easier. Ready to fire it up, season it, cook on it, then sandblast and paint it. Might be a few...
