    Heating Element replacement--but which one??

Yes, that is a factor I must either face or back away from. The existing element is 1200 w so it's a fair question to ask 'is 300 w more worth all this effort'? I had thought of using 2 800w elements but it is apparently a little tricky to find them, altho I'm sure the're out there. I'm very...

    Heating Element replacement--but which one??

Thank you dr k! I read your post about flipping the element but somehow the fact that I have the MES 30, which is more centered, did not nudge my conscious! Regardless, your post is a standout in practicality and clearness, even though it removes part of the support for my idea to upgrade...

    Heating Element replacement--but which one??

I did but no eureka shouts. Problem is so many come with a corded heat control or are immersion heaters which self-destruct in an air environment. The corded ones are problematic simply because I don't know how I would attach my AC wires to the element ends (almost certainly do not have male...

    Heating Element replacement--but which one??

I have an MES 30 and want to replace the element. But first, I am doing extensive mods (seems like I want all of them!), including PID control (already programmed and tested on a breadboard), complete re-wiring, etc. I have read many posts regarding element replacing. I really liked the one...

Masterbuilt mes 340g not working at all, with new parts

Another example to be heeded! Your advice is always so very welcome. I know it comes from much experience, and the wisdom contained cannot be obtained in any other way which is why it is so valuable. Just keep it up! Many of us are counting on you!

Masterbuilt mes 340g not working at all, with new parts

tallbm--I found 'em, no problem. Got 'em ordered today. Have no idea why they didn't come up in the first place--may be more of the same Firefox problem of mine! Man, I sure did rag you for this and I apologize. I just wasn't getting any where and thank you so much again for "looking after me"!

Masterbuilt mes 340g not working at all, with new parts

As a follow-up to my earlier post today, I found another post of yours on these roll-out switches and female connectors, but I couldn't ID the switch positively from the small image. Is it uxCell KSD307, PN g18113000ux0021? They come in a range of temps and I'm not sure which one that PN...

Masterbuilt mes 340g not working at all, with new parts

tallbm, I have had quite a time making a reply to you, and in fact I'm still not sure if I'm doing it correctly, or if it will go thru! I am in the process of modifying my MES 30, including PID control. I am interested in replacing the roll-out switch as you suggested. Until just now, the...

How to reply to a post.

daveomak--Yes, I see the same screen and I'm signed in, as I have been each time. But that's a very good point as so often we can slog by the most basic requirements! I didn't do anything unusual to get to this point so I have nothing to 'duplicate'. We'll see if it lasts! But what's really...

How to reply to a post.

I don't know if this is the correct forum for my question. I asked a similar question several days ago and was advised to switch from Chrome to Firefox, sign out of both, clear cookies, temp files, etc (which I did in Chrome; don't know how to in Firefox), and to restart, all of which I did...

Masterbuilt sportsman elite 30 not smoking

I had the same problem with my MES 30. The element just does not stay on long enough to provide the heat needed to keep the wood chips smoking. I solved it completely by using an AMNPS.

Thanks for answering my question, Steve. Now I can get on with setting it up!

    PID sale?

Thanks to all for your patience--have been having a bit of technical problem here making replies but hope all is ok now. Thanks Steve for your comments. I have several remote thermometers and have considered getting one with multiple probes. In my experience they seem to die in 2 years or so...

    PID sale?

Have been gathering parts and knowledge to convert my Mes30 to PID control for quite some time now. It seems the deeper I get, that what I thought I understood, becomes less clear! At any rate, I have a Mypin TA4-SSR with TC/RTD input and SSR output wired in the usual manner. What I want to...
