    GMG Daniel Boone WIFI

It sounds to me like you have a bad controller.  I've got no other ideas than to do what you did and contact GMG.  See how the new one performs and go from there.   Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Second Baby Back Smoking - Input Greatly Appreciated

I am willing to bet that your actual smoker temp runs a bit cooler than what the MES is showing.  This is not uncommon at all and can be verified with a Maverick or similar multiprobe thermometer.  If you find that it is running cooler, simply compensate by raising the set temp until you get the...

Want to pull the trigger on a tappecue

I've had my Tappecue for about 2 months and love it.  I was playing golf last Sunday and noticed my Rec Tec pit temp was climbing a bit to high early in the cook and I didn't want my ribs to cook too fast, so I called home and had the girlfriend lower my smoker temp 15 degrees.  Helped me save...

    AMNPS Placement

I think you'll get cleaner smoke in the MES (less creosote) by using some flex pipe from the mailbox to the MES like you do with your cold smoking setup.  This will allow the smoke to cool a bit before entering the MES, which supposedly reduces creosote.

    Rectec mini as only cooker

I think you could do it without too much trouble.  The mini heats up in a hurry - it has the same size firepot as the big grill, with half the space.  The grill grates would be a good option for you to do the hot and fast cooking.  You could also remove the drip pan in order to get some more...

    Pellet Grill advice

Go to Pelletheads forums.  There is a section for the Firecraft I believe.  You will get better feedback on it there.  I've read good things about them.

    Andouille stuffed pork tenderloin

How was it?  Did you pre-cook the sausage prior to stuffing?

    Maverick et-735

Fair enough - I should say that my girlfriend is home when I leave my pellet grill unattended.  I've trained her on how to adjust temps, turn off, etc.  I've never had to call her to adjust temps or anything, but if I notice any issues on the temps, I could have her check on it.

    Maverick et-735

I'm as tech un-savy as they come and I have had no problems with the Tappecue.   It is a bit spendy, but I've already gone through 3 Mavericks, which add up to the cost of the Tappecue. Can't tell you how nice it is to know what my smoker and meat temps are when I'm running errands or golfing. ...

    Italian Beef help

I've made it a bit different with good success.  Started with a nice chuck roast seasoned with SPOG.  Smoked at 225 without any peaking until it hit the stall (165 - 170ish).  I then transferred the roast to a crockpot, added some dry zesty Italian dressing seasoning, beef broth, additional...

anyone with any experience with a char griller model #9020 pellet smoker

First - you should be able to have them send you the directions for the ignitor rod change-out.  It isn't that complicated, but directions certainly help.  Rec Tec has a youtube video out there - not sure if Chargriller does. Second - if you want to manually light - use Purell hand...

    Smoke

Depends on what temps you are running.  You should see more from 180 to about 250, and significantly less when you run hotter (as the pellets are burning more efficiently the hotter you run it.

first Brisket,to brine or not to brine

I think sometimes people use the word "brine" not really meaning it.  A brine, by definition, is a strong salt solution typically used to cure meats.  I see people saying they used a brine, when actually it was a marinade / flavor injection. I've injected briskets with a beef broth / seasoning...

GMG Jim Bowie vs Rec-Tec 680

I'm not sure what you mean my limited setting and controls on the RT.  It has 5 degree temp adjustments, extreme smoke setting and one of the better PID controllers on the market.  It does not have wifi.  I'm not sure I would want wifi after reading about some of the issues the GMGs are having...

Pellet Smoker as a grill to?

I just wanted to chime in about temp swings and temp variance from left to right. Attached is a screenshot of a Tappecue graph from my cook yesterday. Probe 1 was on the right side, probe 2 on the left, and 3&4 were in the roast. Temp swings weren't bad - a couple small swings later in the...
