    Signals or Fireboard?

I have a fireboard, and to be honest I love it. I'm an options type of guy, and I love the versatility of the product. I have had zero issues with connection, and I can constantly monitor the pit and meat temp while watching football. The UI I find straightforward and simple. The fact that you...

    Fireboard ATC function

Dan, I have not had the opportunity to purchase the fan or the cable. Thus I have not tested this. If the fireboard can run the fan without the drive cable being plugged into a 12volt than it should have enough power to run the fan on the battery alone.

@Xendau I have not. Haven't had the time to even order the fan yet. Hopefully in a couple of weeks.

    Fireboard ATC function

I wonder if this cord will work instead of the driver cable. http://www.discountcarstereo.com/PX25.html I just feel like 79 is to much to pay. Can you send a photo of the drive cable that the blower plugs into.

    Fireboard ATC function

I absolutely love my fireboard. I'm smoking on a 18.5 weber. I thought the 6 probe bundle for my situation would be overkill, but I love that I have the option to go to that level if need be. Does the fan have to use the 12v power or can it be run off just the fireboard itself? That's an awesome...

    Fireboard ATC function

Hello, I figured this would be the best place to start. I just picked up the fireboard, and I absolutely love it, but is the fireboard drive cable required? Is there a way another cable that would work to connect it to a blower? It's a hard justification to buy a $79 cable. I known the drive...

When to pull a Turkey to avoid overcooking

Motown noob, I hope someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I would assume that since the bird should still carry over cook that the broiler will also help accelerate the cooking process. I assume that since your smoker will be no where near the heat from the broiler that it should also cook...

When to pull a Turkey to avoid overcooking

Noboundaries,  You are definitely right about the time. I usually run my WSM hotter for chickens around 300 F. I like your idea, and will be giving it a try as the wife is going to have a ton of food in the oven.

When to pull a Turkey to avoid overcooking

SeenRed Correct I do not have enough room to spatchcock unless It in half and cook one on the top rack, and the other on the bottom. Al, Your advice has always been super helpful. Do you think if I pulled at your temp that I could through it in the oven to crisp the skin a bit? Jakester,  I...

When to pull a Turkey to avoid overcooking

Hello all, Its been awhile since I posted. Love the site and all the valuable information. I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving, and have decided to a 16 LB Turkey on my WSM. I've been smoking a ton of spatchcocked birds and I love the results every time. For my chickens I usually smoked at...

    Foiled vs Unfoiled

Foiled came off 4 hours later when it hit 200 IT. My conclusion. The one that was unfoiled had a much more pronounced smoke flavor, along with a better bark. I belive my method will be to take the pork butt to around 170 IThursday and thanks wrap it from there. The WSM performed like a...

    Foiled vs Unfoiled

The foiled butt came off. Took a quick nap to find it at 200. When I pulled it off the grill the thing broke in half. The unfoiled is at 171 and has hit a stall I'm hoping for it to be done in the next 3 hours

    Foiled vs Unfoiled

Hello all, I'm getting back into smoking after purchasing a WSM. Today I'm doing a test on 2 butts. Both I brought up to 155 degs. I made sure that the rub was stuck. Both butts weighed 9.2 lbs. I decided to foil one and leave one as is on the smoker. I have been keeping a log everyou hour as I...

    ECB Mods and inconsistent temps

Mosparky, I have holes around the sides of the charcoal pan.I've looked at a thousand different mods but none that seemed effective for air imtake. I'm trying to find a way to make a damper on the top to vent but that has yet to come to fruition. My first couple of times on it I used briquettes...

    ECB Mods and inconsistent temps

Hello all, I was wondering how many of you out there have modded ECBS and what you have done to regulate the temps. The first couple of hours on mine is a rollercoaster. My ECB wants to level at 200 and I can't get it to stay at the 225 temp. Today for instance I smoked brisket. (My first one)...
