Well it’s been 7 years and the elements have not been kind to the ole girl. Have to rip off the roof and gonna do metal I think. Termites and humidity have caused half to rot away. Breaks my heart but looking forward to building it back up.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm doing the dowels but my question is in regards to the racks themselves. Without going and buying super expensive grill grates what are some safe alternatives?
Need some suggestions on what to use for inside the smokehouse in regards to racks and dowels for hanging. My main goal is to make jerky strips so I would want an option to be able to slide numerous racks into the SH.
I'm no expert per say, but sand her down to bare metal and go with something like Rustoleum high temp primer and then season it slowly starting with low heat and work your way up to cooking temps. After that allow to cool and go with some rustoleum automotive high temp paint and repeat process...
