Very Disappointed In Traeger Pellet Grill/Smokers

I've had Traegers for twenty years (3 of them). First had some temp swings of about 20 or so. Other two no problems. Latest is a Select Pro from Costco. Holds temp within 3-5 degrees. This is over about 1.5 years using it avg 4x per week. Maxes out at about 450 but added GrillGrates so it...

YS640 comp vs Rec Tec Bull comp

The new Traegers that came out this week look cool. Double-walled and wi-fi control like the Timberland series, but some more affordable options.

Traeger Quality Control - going downhill?

I have a year-old Select Elite (the one that looks like a gas grill) and quickly upgraded it from 'elite' to 'pro' by swapping the controller and adding the second shelf - also added GrillGrates for searing. It has performed flawlessly. Heats up fast and holds temps within 5 degrees. The...

Food Pron. Super Bowl pork butt.

This made some great sliders. 8 lb butt dry rubbed and injected with a mix of apple cider and soy sauce. Smoked on a Traeger Select at 225 for about 9 hrs.

Non traeger brand pellets in a traeger grill.

I rarely use Traeger pellets in my Traeger Select pro because they cost more. My go-to pellets are Bear Mountain that I get from Cash-n-Carry in Portland, a restaurant supply store. $9 per 20 lb bag. Every flavor. They work great.

Questions about Traeger or pellet smokers in general

Look at GrillGrates. Will get over 550 on your 425 grill.

    GrillGrates for Traeger

Yes, small enough. Actually help because allows liquid to drain so stuff browns more. Also good for griddling burgers etc. Basically just gives a pellet grill more versatility to act like a traditional grill.

    GrillGrates for Traeger

They are fantastic for creating grill Mark's on steaks, chops, chicken etc. The lit that comes with them claim surface temps 100-150 degrees higher than standard grates. I can see that being true given the Mark's but I think that is restricted to the surface....dont notice higher overall...

    Kingsford 100% hardwood pellets?

Dang....assumed 20 lbs. Target must be boxed and tuned for supplemental smoke, not pellet grill hoppers.

    Kingsford 100% hardwood pellets?

Saw an ad from Lowes they now carry Kingsford pellets - 100% hickory, etc - for $11.99 a bag. Anyone tried them?

    TRAEGER GRILLS!!!

Had Traegers for 16 years with no issues whatsoever. Now running a Select Pro. Consistent temps with only about 15 degree temp swings. No flame-outs. Smoked some salmon this weekend...held temp at 160 - 170 for 3.5 hrs. Turned out great!

    Traeger - New Owener - Tips/Advice?

I don't do anything but brush the grates after each cook. About every 5 cooks I chand the foil, scrape the creosote and vacuum out the ash.

    GrillGrates Pron

GrillGrates are a must have for any pellet-griller that doesn't already have a sear-station. These were from this weekend on a Traeger Select. Chops and steaks. And GO BEAVS!

    Traeger - New Owener - Tips/Advice?

I cleaned mine for the first time today in the dishwasher....the horror! No worries. They kept their seasoning...even on the 'pots and pans' setting. Still had some gunk after but wiped relatively clean with a paper towel.
