Selling my masterbuilt gasser (propane) vertical smoker. This unit has only been seasoned and used three times, very clean unit. I had issues with the door latch and have a brand new one from Masterbuilt, I just havent installed it. The original latches fine, you just have to be careful the...
Hi all, plan on smoking a few small chickens this weekend with family in town. I've read several threads on the beer butt chicken, some say to brine them, some say they are still moist without brining and some say cook low and some say over 300. This is what I had in mind: throw a few pads...
Very Nice! Would you mind sharing what you did and what kind of casings those are? From the looks and my very little knowledge of stuffing, it appears you stuffed it first and then tied it at the spots with a small piece of twine? I'm trying to read up on all of this prior to stuffing my...
I had my first smoke in my new MES 40 from Sam's this weekend. I hung the ET-73 probe from the 2nd rack up from the water pan on the front of the rack. With my MES set at 235 the probe was reading anywhere from 206-215. I assumed that this was because it was at the front of the box and the...
Thanks everyone for the comments, I appreciate the feedback. I belive I cooked these at around 235. I would def. recommend the cream cheese one if you are a fan of the abt.
When I hear the State Fair is here I immediately think Corn Dogs!! I thought I would try to incorporate that into a fattie, so here it is. I used two corn dogs baked in the oven and some tater tots, wrapped in JD and bacon. The taste was just okay as the corndog got somewhat soggy. THe other...
Welcome Buddy! I started off with a Masterbuilt Gasser and just now purchased the MES 40. Hope to get my first smoke on it this weekend, but from all of my readings, the MES is the way to go. Sam's has a great deal on them! I'm up in Fort Mill, SC if you're ever up this way!
Thanks everyone for the comments! I do have to admit, I browned it up under the broiler for a minute or so after taking it out of the smoker. I'm definitely addicted, dreaming of what's going in the next one!! That blueberry pancake one sounds tempting...
Did a short test this past weekend prior to putting the meat on. The bottom rack, which is just above the water pan, was about 30 degrees cooler than the rack just above it, does that make sense? I even let it burn for about an hour, thinking the water was having an affect, and it didnt...
Had a few guys out this weekend to fire up the smoker (2nd time) and drink a few cold ones. I didnt get many pictures of the whole day, but I did manage two of the fattie with my cell phone. This was my first attempt and I used JD Country Sausage filled with scrambled eggs, hash browns and...
Thanks for all of the responses. I guess what I'll do is put one on the bottom rack with the butt and one on the highest rack with meat. In addition to the ET-73, I've got a few LEM digital probes I can use. So if I have the Butt on the bottom, what temps should I shoot for down there...
After my first smoke and the meat towards the top of the smoker not cooking within the safe zone (40-140), I am curious as to at what level (grate level) should i have the ET-73 probe mounted? This is a masterbuilt gasser unit
For the smoke next week, I plan on having a butt on the bottom...
