My smokin Tex 1400 finally kicked the bucket after 17yrs of operation and beating.
I ordered a new element and thermostat then starting down the PID rabbit hole.
Currently I have the element installed and it’s being controlled by a Rex C-100 PID. I have it sent to what I believe is full power...
Hey brother so I’ve got this setup to what I believe is full power p-I-d all to 0000 from the manual… I have the SV set to 225. And I can’t seem to get it to get over 200 PV… it’s been an hour and a half… I do have the back panel off and insulation out. But the oven has been red hot for 90 mins...
So I’ve been trying to follow this with the smokin Tex 1400 wired to a Rex c-100 PID. I believe my full power setting was P=0 I=0 D=0 I set that with no auto tune and I can’t seem to get the oven over 200degrees.. I do have the back insulation out and back panel off. But on the flip side it’s...
This morning I set my P= 1 I=0 D=0 to see if it would rise faster because from my understanding that’s basically straight power settings. It didn’t raise faster but again it seems like oven is hotter then thermocoupler.. in hindsight I have a digital meat thermometer I could use to test oven...
I’m wondering if possible this thermocouple is faulty cause it seems a lot hotter inside the oven than the reading. Does this looking somewhat proper for the wiring of this? I have taken the power for the PID by jumping from the heater and the SSR points for respective sides..
So the issue I have currently… 1) it seems to be VERY VERY SLOW to heat up.. element is red hot, oven seems very hot. Thermocouple seems to be reading low… 2) the AT light to the left side of the digital panel is flashing yellow. No idea why? Don’t have auto tune on, tried turning it on no...
Hey JC,
Thanks for your help,
So went into the manual and it’s the same as the one provided with the controller as well. I have it all wired up and my element is heating my smokin’ Tex with just the PID as controller. I’ve switched it into F degrees using SL6 to 0001 but I noticed the PV didn’t...
ok when I get home I will see if I can get into SL2 and change the Temp... I have to believe its set in C now... we shall see I do have the manual and while it's almost impossible to read after watching a video you can decipher some of it... do you happen to have a wiring diagram written out or...
how can I tell the difference exactly? I was able to go into all the SL menus and the different CODE menus... in your opinion should I retain the original analog thermostat in my smoker, or just wire this PID as the primary controller and call it a day..admittedly I did buy this on Alibaba for...
I’m not sure if that was the bat signal but I did do some playing around with this controller tonight and have a general understanding of its basic operation ( set temp, switch between cooling and heated modes) and I’ve ran it on my bench to make sure I understand its operation. My original...
