I have a small apple tree that has died and I have cut it down. Since it was a small tree much of the wood is too small to split. Will unsplit wood (small limbs) work just as well at producing smoke as split wood?

Does it make any, or much, differences in cook time if you smoke an eight pound piece of meat verses cutting the meat into two four pound pieces of meat and putting on different racks in the smoker?

I found a fresh butterball turkey at Costco. I brined and smoked it and it came out wonderful. The dark and white meats were very moist and cut with a fork. Butterball recommends to only brine the fresh turkeys because the frozen ones have been "prepared'.
