    MES 40" exhaust configuration

After some thinking, I'm still within the return window of the cold smoke attachment. I'm going to return it and get a side fire box for about the same price to utilize as a mailbox mod of sorts with a AMNTS/tube. It's made from cast iron so I don't have to worry about paint melting, can...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

I just attached it to a screw that was still in place from one of the metal pieces over the element that I didn't put back. I think it'll be fine? Did a 1hr test with Auber and it seemed to be working and held at 200. My other thermometer had battery corrosion so I have to test the Auber probe...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

I did buy some new spades as well. But the male ends on the element itself were rusted to heck. New element kit was only $23 so not a big deal. It's already here and I'm throwing it in today.

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

Man... Replaced the safety switch just because it's cheap and easy. Went to remove the metal pieces around the heating element and took the back cover off. The connectors were corroded to hell. Guess I'm buying a new element too lol. At this point, the internals are 100% new. I haven't even...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

I'm hoping cycling every hour on/off will keep it in check. Otherwise, I'm just going to throw one of those pellet tubes in it and use that. Mailboxes aren't cheap anymore and I got this for a steal so worth a shot. Actually, that's very cheap... I'm going to Harbor Freight anyways to grab a...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

Mine is just a simple on off switch. I can 100% set the aw-1520h to turn it on and off through a relay toggle in the settings. It literally has a plug labeled 'smoke generator' on the back next to the heater plug. I looked it up this morning and read through the manual on how to configure.

    MES 40" exhaust configuration

I've been working on this old thing I got for free. I've done the rewire, I'll be replacing the temp safety switch when that comes in the mail, I have an Auber PID ready to go, and I have a cold smoke generator. Now, I'm wondering if/how I should modify the exhaust. Most I've seen come out the...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

Awesome. Thank you. I've been slowly reading through this thread and a lot of my previous questions had already been answered - so, I'm sorry for that. I setup the PID/wifi/app today. I'll test everything tomorrow. I wanted to wait until things were dry. I did an internal clean and pulled some...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

I decided to just solder the wires together instead of messing with connectors for this. Chances are I'm never going to disconnect this portion of it anyways. I need to do some internal cleaning and maybe later today I'll plug it into the AW-1520H and see if anything blows up. Is there an easy...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

So, on mine, what're the other things attached to the board with the smaller wires? Lights? I've actually never even plugged this in because the control panel on top is completely disintegrated and I don't know what any buttons do. I got this for free and heating elements are cheap enough (if...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

I bought a AW-1520H. Working on the rewire now following Auber's .pdf guide. For the jumper, they suggest 14awg stranded wire. I have 12awg solid wire on hand. Will this be a problem? Would it be better to just cut one of the female connectors off the pre-installed wires and crimp a male spade...
