    A-Maze-n-smoker which one?

I just ordered one and tried the coupon code.  It says it expired on 9/30/11.  That's the story of my life...2 months late and a lot of dollars short... I've been wanting to order one of these for a while for my MES 40.  I'm excited to try it for the holiday smoking.

They turned out great.  The party went well and the food disappeared.  Thanks to all for the help.

Bacon wrapped chicken bites for graduation party

Thanks for the ideas.  I think I may try the chicken strips idea just because it sounds easier for the quantity I will be smoking.  I thought about wings, but I have already purchased the bonless skinless breasts.  I will be smoking these on Sunday.  I will try to post pics.

    Is this normal?

Yes, the drain tube on the new one is straight out the back of the smoker.  I will try to get a picture tonight complete with the sunset and the dog's football in the background as per the original pic.

Bacon wrapped chicken bites for graduation party

We are doing finger foods (veggie/fruit trays, cheese and crackers, etc.) for my daughters graduation open house.  I'm thinking about also serving quartered bacon wrapped chicken breasts.  I was thinking it would be best to smoke them whole, then quarter them for additional help to keep them...

    Is this normal?

Well, I tried the socket extension in the drain tube and I could not get it to straighten out.  When I would push down it would push up on the floor inside the smoker.  I finally received an email back from Masterbuilt and they said it did not appear to be bent enough to cause a problem and if I...

    Is this normal?

From what I remember you really can't see much on the inside.  The drip pan that fits in the bottom of the smoker slopes to a hole in the bottom of it which drains into a hole in the bottom of the smoker cabinet.  The tube is basically below the floor of the cabinet.  I will try to post a pic...

    Is this normal?

Well, I just got a response from Masterbuilt.  They said it did not look like it was bent enough to cause a problem.  I smoked ribs this weekend and they generated enough drippings to need the drip pan.  Instead of the grease dripping out of the drain, it ran down the bottom side of the tube and...

    Is this normal?

I'm now 4 smokes into my new MES 40 and I am extremely happy.  I definitely plan on ordering an AMNS to top it off.  I do have one question about my drain.  It sure appears to me that it is sloped up out the back of the smoker.  I have never had anything drain into the drip pan on the back, but...

    First smoke in my MES

SmokinAl...  My neighbor said he buys his baby back ribs at Sams but he doesn't have a smoker to cook them in.  I do not have a membership (yet), but he was going to pick some up for me next time.  He said he would buy and share them with me if i smoke them.  Pretty good trade I say...

    First smoke in my MES

Sorry it's taken so long to get the post-smoke qview on here.  The ribs were better than on my ECB, but still pretty tough.  I'm positive it is the cheap meat.  I didn't take a post-smoke picture of them.  The turkey on the other hand turned out great.  I am doing another turkey breast and a...

    First smoke in my MES

I seasoned my new MES 40 last night and I am smoking my first rack of ribs this afternoon along with a turkey breast.  I can't believe how easy this is.  I had to work way too hard with my modified ECB.  Other than adding wood chips periodically, I haven't done anything.  It is keeping a very...

    Hello from MO!

Oh, and the outlaw Jesse James is not doing to well these days although the whole town does have a week long festival each year to celebrate him.  Complete with mud volleyball, a rodeo, food, dance, and a parade...Go figure!

    Hello from MO!

Thanks to all for the welcomes.  I've taken the 5 day course and I have really been following the forums for a while.  I got my new MES 40 home and put together last night.  I will be seasoning it Friday night and hopefully smoking on Saturday.  I will try to post some q-view.  Last night my...

    Hello from MO!

I live in Kearney, Missouri (birthplace of Jesse James) just north of Kansas City.  I received an ECB as a service anniversary gift several years ago.  It sat in my garage and did not get used until early last year.  After some frustration with the ECB I found this forum and ended up adding all...

MES 40 at Cabelas for $289

This is my first post and I really want to thank all of you for the knowledge base on here that has taught me so much. What a great forum.   I have been using a modified ECB for a couple years and I still fight to keep a stable temp (especially in the high winds we had this weekend).  I have...
