The final pics are coming soon...party clean-up aftermath still needs to be taken care of. The brisket was gone instantly! It was a huge success, and I'm happy my first brisket was so darn tasty. :)
Alright, the smaller top piece has been done for about an hour. The bigger piece is almost done. 13 1/2 hours and counting...
There is qview of the whole process. Here it is midway through. They're both being finished in the oven at 225F under foil. I pulled them out of the smoker at ~170F.
It was in the 12-17 lb range based upon the website it was ordered from. I don't know...it just seems bigger. There is a little wide angle lens trickery also making it look larger. :)
Good thing I took the day off work!
So, today is my wife's 2nd 39th birthday. :) We're having a giant BBQ tomorrow. In efforts to enjoy the day, I took the day off work to smoke a brisket. So far 70 people have confirmed...YIKES! Yes, there will be more food cooking tomorrow. For Christmas, my brother-in-law send me a frozen...
Has anyone tried this? My wife said she heard on the radio...or somewhere about using cocoa shells to smoke foods. I searched for a bit but only found articles on people smoking (inhaling) cocoa.
There is a chocolate factory near my wife's office in the city. They sell their cocoa shells for...
Wow that looks great! I'll have to do that soon. I once hot smoked salmon when the inlaws came over for dinner. My wife told me to also grill a piece since her parents might not liked the smoked fish. Well...I had a lot of grilled salmon for leftovers. I only got a small sample of the...
Great stuff here! It's been a while since I fired up the smoker. Winter was brutal this year. But I have a boneless leg of lamb to cook tomorrow. This has convinced me the smoker is the best place for it. :)
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. It looks like I'll cook 'em up.
I've been doing 2-2-1.5 as I like 'em a little "tougher", but I'll spare the last half hour and just do 2-2-1...then re-heat the next day.
Hmmm...that actually leaves room for me to smoke something else the next day. :)
I'm having family over for BBQ this Saturday. They're dying for some smoked babybacks, as a few have tried mine and want them again, but the problem is everyone is out together until late afternoon...then some others are coming over for the BBQ. So, I'll have 2-3 hours tops before I need to...
I love coming home from work during the week and whipping up a fantastic, but quick meal. I've learned to do a few things in the smoker two. I picked up some small prime rib steaks for the wife and I. I throw them in the smoker and cook them up until rare.
Above, they're pulled from the...
Last week and weekend was a flurry that went by quick, and ended up with me having a miserable cold. But...in between, I ate some serious que! Here's what was on-tap for Memorial Day weekend:
I was drooling over the babyback recipie with brown sugar coating. For once, luck was on my side...
