    You can try spicy bird seed. Mammals react badly to capsaicin but birds are not affected by it. Planting peppers like habaneros or jalapenos help too.

    You got the good info here. All I can add is do a few more bellies, use one standard (like Pop's brine)try different methods of restin / drying and slicing. Take notes of what you've done.     I'm in this boat... I bottled my "sauce" at just below a simmer into boiled bottles so I know it's sterile. Now, being my first go around at bottling, I tried some of both and they are really good. I let them set for a week and then some and here's what I have.

    It's all fun and games until that claw comes from under a door after your sock which is attached to your foot. Our former cat Tom Thumbs would jump up on our backs and sit on our shoulders. It didn't hurt when he was a kitten but I'm glad he gave up the habit.
