Weber changed the iGrill App and it Sucks!

Yeah, I saw that. What I used to do with the old app is set a range, such as 225-250, for my ambient probe. There is no option for this now. No more going to sleep and letting the alarm wake you up,if your temp gets too high or drops too low. My igrill2 used to be the best BBQ tool I had.

Weber changed the iGrill App and it Sucks!

I am smoking pork belly burnt ends for the first time today. I'm only using the ambient probe so I was surprised when I fired up the app to find out that I can't set up my own temp range. I have sent Weber support a message. I,cannot believe they would take such a great product and ruin it the...

    Brand new custom shirley

Thanks so much for the response. I have a homemade smoker that I use in comps that eats wood. I'm now saving up to buy a Shirley. Filled out the price it's going to run me $7800. Gonna be a while.

    Links to Pit Builder Websites

This is a cliff notes version since I'm at work. Reverse flow with cabinet style doors Smoke chamber 6-7 feet long with two or three shelves Warming box with three shelves Wood storage Grease drain Mounted on trailer of course I really like the smokers at Shirley Fabrication so far but...

    Links to Pit Builder Websites

I am in the process of looking for a new trailer smoker. Can you guys give me some links to some of the better pit builders out there. I'm in Texas but not opposed to going out of state to have one built. Thanks for the help!

    Brand new custom shirley

Thank you for posting this. I am in the market for a new smoker in the next year or so. I have begun my search for a fabricator and ran across the Shirley website and am very impressed. I do harvest some questions though: Does it retain heat well or does it eat wood? Does any smoke leak...

Wanting to get into BBQ Competitions

I think BBQBrett put it perfectly. The only thing I can add is search for an amateur competition to get your feet wet. That's what we did and I feel like it helped a lot.

    Need advice on IBCA comps

I was raised by the saying 'you won't know an answer to your question if you don't ask'. My family and I have been competing in IBCA events for the past two years. We have been doing a little better lately but notice the same teams seem to get walks at every event. These teams obviously are...

Pellet Smokers in Competitions - Your opinion

I have been using my WSM to smoke my chicken and the offset on my trailer for my larger meats.  I smoked a brisket last Sunday on my WSM and hardly had to touch it.  So guess what I will be using to smoke my brisket in a couple of weeks. :)

Pellet Smokers in Competitions - Your opinion

Since you said you haven't competed, you have no idea the work it takes to at these competitions. We don't have a team of four people. It's normally my wife and I. My oldest son is there about half the time when he doesn't have things to do with his kids so that helps. I got an hour and forty...

Pellet Smokers in Competitions - Your opinion

Yeah, I'm not saying they are cheating at all. Like some people have said, the biggest challenge is maintaining your fire over the duration of the cook.

Pellet Smokers in Competitions - Your opinion

I don't see a problem with instant read thermometers. Mainly for food safety more than anything. We were in a competition last month where there were disqualifications due to raw meat.

Pellet Smokers in Competitions - Your opinion

I don't have a pit controller so I don't know if I am for or against them since you still have to physically add wood to your fire. What I do know is that I got under two hours of sleep this past Friday so I could maintain my fire.  While the pellet guy slept all night while his meat cooked in...

Pellet Smokers in Competitions - Your opinion

They're pellet cookers. Not the electric types like Masterbuilt. I hope I'm describing this correctly.
