make a flame grilled beer can chicken on my Gravity 560

Thanks for the reply, I guess because it was a grease fire why I was thinking for some reason I should leave the smoker lid open. Next time I'll cut the smoker off and leave the lid closed. And as for the beer can thing, I made it using a Komado Joe ceramic chicken stand thing. I just call it...

make a flame grilled beer can chicken on my Gravity 560

When it hit 140f I cranked it up to 390 so I could crisp up the skin. 10 minutes later alarm alarm alarm on my phone from my probe. There was a big flare up and the grill was at 475 with the chicken engulfed in flames. I don't have any fireproof gloves just pot holders and didn't know what to...

    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

Maybe it's just dumb luck, but I've never had a problem with wood chunks in the hopper on my 560. I don't even think I read read the instructions because I usually toss 1 in then put some charcoal then some more wood then charcoal then more wood. And I put a few small chunks in the ash bin. I...

anyone use(d) Ridge Master charcoal from Aldi's?

My MB 560 swallows charcoal whole, I found a post on another forum where someone compared it to the regular Kingford Blue (what I use) and this burnt longer for him. That's me assuming it's identical to RO and not something lower quality they make with the leftover stuff. Can't beat the price...

anyone use(d) Ridge Master charcoal from Aldi's?

Was there a few days ago and saw 20lb bags for $6.99 can't find anything about it on Google, I would have bought some but I walked there and didn't feel like carrying a big bag home. If it's decent that's a damn good price.

    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

I love my 560 to death, will keep it until the 800's are back in stock and sell it on Offer Up and upgrade. The 1050's awesome but I want the 800 for the griddle. I have the slightly updated 560, and while it's no 1050, it's still sweet and has a good amount of room.

Pork shoulder can take longer than you think....

22 hours? Damn, that would be almost 3 bags of charcoal on my Gravity 560 lol.

    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

I was when I posted it, just checked and they're already out of stock. wowzers. But I just checked Walmart and they're in stock again. Lovely that I clicked on the "notify me when in stock" button last damn month and there was no email from them saying it's back in stock.

    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

The 800s are now for sale on mbs website. They were only at Walmart until I guess This week. They’ve been out of stock for almost 2 months now. I’ve been checking for them every few days. Just happened to go on mb web site and they’re in stock there now.

Made beef back ribs for the 1st time

I knew they’d shrink but I had no idea that much. They lost like half of their size. I was expecting them to have maybe as much meat as a good spare rib. I probed them to 201f, maybe you’re suppose to cook to a lower temp.

Made beef back ribs for the 1st time

I'm new to this so I still don't know exactly what's what. I saw a 2 pack at Ralphs and thought they would come out looking like those dino ribs. I was super hungry and looking so forward to these. Didn't have any pepper, so I used Lambert's Sweet Rub 'O Mine. 3 hours in the smoker and what came...

    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

It’s way more than a lb an hour on my 560. I got maybe 10 hours out of 16 lbs. Lump seems to burn slower for me, but it costs a lot more.

    Masterbuilt Charcoal hopper grill

Bought one about a month ago, it's pure goodness. Darian Kosmo of Kosmo Q said it's the Holy Grail of smokers. I have the 560, it's plenty big for what I cook. Making beef ribs on it tomorrow, been using it a few times a week since I got it.

    New favorite

I need to try them, Dietz and Watsons pepperoni’s very very good, and pretty cheap. as someone who makes pizza and pasta from scratch. I dunno about hot dogs. Seems like a decent amount of work and I can’t see how I could out do the Boars Head natural casing ones I get from Ralph’s. And if my...

    Black Garlic

This stuff's $3 a head at my local store. For how long it takes to make it that doesn't see like a bad deal at all.

    FNG from South Orange County

Welcome, I got a Masterbuilt Gravity 560 about a month ago. Can sear at 700 and gets up to temp in about 14 minutes. If you’re looking at pellets even though it’s charcoal I’d suggest you look into the Gravity’s. and I’m in Riverside, so howdy neighbor.

Looks gooooooood! I like to use Boars Head Chipotle Smoked Gouda in my poppers. Melts fantastic and is super tasty.

    KettlePizza w/ Prograte

+1 on the IR gun, but you have to pay attention there are many that max out at around 500f. Mine goes to 1050. It’s been invaluable for me when I make pizzas. imho I like the crust better on 5-6 minute bakes (NY style) but if you’re using 00 flour and can get your kettle up to 850-900f a 60-90...

    KettlePizza w/ Prograte

I never made a poolish with my Neo pizzas, I do know it’s a ton of extra work though lol. Yours looks good, I appreciate a pizza that looks home made. Interesting cook time too, you made a hybrid of sorts. I bet it tasted fantastic.
