Time to buy a new grill

I agree 100% that's why I want the option.  During the week when time is a factor the gas option is great especially because I tend to grill 2-3 times a week, but I also want the charcoal option for the weekends when I have the time to BBQ.

Proud to say my Brinkmann Smoke N Chill is still putting out some amazing Q but unfortunately my Brinkmann 4 burner gas grill has bit the dust.  Now I am in the market to replace it but this time I think I want to...

    Advantages to Brining

It can really get up in temp with no water in the water pan. But with a little water and a nice bed of coals it holds...

If you can get ahold of a small thin piece of sheet metal to cover those holes before you apply the sealant it would probably hold a bit better. Maybe like a beer can or canned food can.

Brinkmann Smoke N Pit low temps, too much charcoal

Yea I think you need more air going into your fire box. I read some ppl had success with drilling a few holes in the bottom.

Brinkmann Smoke N Pit low temps, too much charcoal

People that have temp probs must live somewhere cold. Brinkmanns have very thin bodies making them hard to hold temps. They also have alot of gaps where heat easily escapes.  Remember heat rises and oxygen makes fires hotter.  Minimize heat loss and aim for good air flow through the smoker. You...

Type of Screws to use on modification

A galvanized coating will burn off, but avoid using anything galvanized on your fire or cooking surfaces. Stainless will last longer and does not rust.
