One issue with points is the higher fat content. I only smoke whole packers i.e. point still attached to the flat. With those I ignore probing the point and only do it on the flat all over. When that is tender I pull it from the smoker. Point kinda goes along for the ride. Others constantly...
Hey Doug, that portable 4 ton hydraulic jack might be a better solution than the bottle jack I was looking at. Got to call their tech service to get the actual length of the ram section when closed. There is one available at a local Harbor store. thanks for the link!
Gonna review the bottle jack option first with MAK but if for some reason that won't work then the threaded rod with adapters is next. Thanks for the idea Rich!
I smoke the entire time. FYI, I use a pellet smoker and have never had an issue of overly smoking. Doubt seriously your East Oak electric smoker would be much different. BUT... overly smoked is a subjective term and can mean something different to each individual. I purposely chose to go the...

Water might be an option although there isn't enough room for a psi wand. Been doing some research in regards to using a bottle jack, assuming I can find one short enough to fit the space between the auger tube and the far wall. Thinking is: get a dowel rod with a diameter that will fit inside...
So far we've followed their procedure of a long screw driver into the exit end and pounding it in with a hammer and/or side of a sledge. Not a lot of room to swing either. The attempt is to turn it and loosen up the cemented pellet sawdust. Also removing the securing bracket from the motor so...
