    Long overdue

I actually didn't take a shot of that. I wish that I had. As you can imagine, with the cooker getting hot, the outside was a little more done than I'd like, and the center was medium rare to medium… not what I wanted, but I sure enjoyed it. I cut it thin, sausage bacon and all, put it in the...

    Long overdue

When I was an active hunter, I tried to find ways to cook venison without processing everything. Habit was, keep the backstrap and tenderloin, process everything else. Then I smoked a deer ham... and it was delicious. Fast forward a dozen years or so, and a friend at work shares some venison...

    Feeding others

But, I am fortunate that the men in my family were big on cooking hogs, from Boston Butts to whole hogs, for family get-togethers. I guess it's a farm family thing, I don't know. But it's some of my best memories from...

    Feeding others

Foamheart, That's a good question! The church was looking for volunteers, so I raised my hand. I wouldn't hesitate if they asked again. It's a good cause, trying to help families get back on their feed. The program seems to have a good success rate, so it's worth doing for sure.
