Hi everyone...sorry for the delay...we had a family get together the week before Christmas and it turns out someone there had Covid and didn't yet know it. Now, everyone who was at the get-together, minus two has tested positive for it...I am happy to say I am one of the two who is negative...
Hi guys, now I know the cause of the problem, what I am hoping to learn is what can be done about it. Me and my buddy build a reverse flow smoker. We made it out of 100 percent steel. The first smoke I did on it was four racks of Baby back ribs, they came out great. Today, I decided to try a...
No problem, appreciate the comment. I'm really trying to find my footing over here dealing with strang woods that I would have never thought about using back in Georgia....if we even had them in Georgia. So I can use all the help I can get.
Not really in my area but some parts of Ireland do have apple trees, not in my area but..the most common type of hardwood in my area appears to be Ash. I live in the Southwest of Ireland, most of the Apple orchardfs I have eard of have been on the east coast.
Thanks, I might just leave it based on what I am seeing here. All the hardwood here is so expensive and then I found this guy with Larch for dirt cheap...I knew it was too good to be true.
Lol, I don't even think we have Larch in Georgia where I am from but I was getting conflicting information from people. Larch was listed on the Irish forestry website with the Hardwoods and I even ran into a guy on a chef forum I go too that claims all his restaurant uses is Larch.....but I...
Thanks, I just bought a big load of Ash wood..it appears to be mainly white ash with a small bit of red ash mixed in. I have never used Ash before either..but this Ash wasn't exactly cheap so I am trying to find a more price friendly alternative. Both sides of my family were land owners in the...
Ok, so I know as a general rule, conifers should not be used for smoking but Larch is a bit different from most conifers. For one, it is not an evergreen. I was talking to a guy in Veitenam who opened his own american bbq restaurant over there. He told me the first thing he would recommend to...
I have already sourced the wood, I found some oak and some applewood so I am good to go on that front. I am also not in any hurry. I have lived in Ireland without a smoker for over a decade so I can wait to get the smoker that I want. A friend of mine today put me in touch with a metal...
Hello everyone, if you read my introductory post in the new member's section, you know that I am a native of Georgia but I currently reside in Ireland. After doing research, what I really want is a reverse flow smoker. I am not a welder or metal fabricator so I am going to be hiring a Polish...
I mentioned I found one company here in Ireland who makes smokers, they make different kinds. The pictures of their smokers all look like they are made from steel drums which again made their price all the more surprising. I also have access to beer kegs but the fabricator I have been speaking...
Thanks, I'll have to convert that to metric for any Irish or polish fabricators but that seems very useful. As a fabricator yourself, do you think a steel drum would work as a smoking chamber? I am having a hard time finding a metal tank, most of the ones I do find are huge and are used on...
