    Kamodo vs offset smoker

I have the Akorn and a vertical offset. Love them both! Like the others have said, the kamado style is so versatile. My Akorn holds temps so well and uses very little fuel. Filled her up with charcoal and wood chunks and it smoked for 12-14 hours....and still had some charcoal left! But...

Looking for tip - Char-Griller Akorn Kamado

Didn't mean to leave you hanging there damascusmaker!!  I did see a few videos on  how to reduce the temps.  I have since been using an all natural stick starter to light the coals.  It works great and I don't have that overshoot on temp, unless I accidentally let it happen.

Looking for tip - Char-Griller Akorn Kamado

Hello all!  Didn't see this thread until this morning.  I love my Akorn, but every cook/smoke is a new learning experience.  I learn something new every time if fire it up.  I have also learned that patience is a virtue.  I also have an offset smoker (Brinkman Trailmaster) which was my first...

    kamado guys opinions needed

I bought a Kamado Akorn grill last December and I absolutely love it!  Before, I was using my Weber Kettle for all my grilling needs and for smoking, using my Brinkman Trailmaster horizontal.  So as for the gas grill question,I haven't used one in about 7 or 8 years.  The Kamado Akorn, I use all...

    Brinkmann Trailmaster Limited Edition

Hey all!! Haven't posted on this thread in a while, but I check back in to see what people are saying and talking about.  Just a couple comments:  Definitely seal the ash pan and the gap between the fire box and chamber.  That will help with the heat.  I put tuning plates in mine at first, but...

which is better for pure pork sausage ?

I have a question for you guys.  I have 3ft. link of sausage I just got yesterday from the local butcher.  I have never smoked sausage before.  Does anyone use seasoning or rub while smoking the sausage?  I wouldn't think so, but I was just curious.  Thanks!

    charcoal basket in brinkmann TMLE

Half way through last season, I switched to 100% stick burn.  I was having trouble keeping my temps up.  Now, with using wood, that is not a problem.  I just have to be careful not to get it too hot.  Still use lump to get the fire started, but I have enjoyed using wood as the fuel.  I may do...

    FINISHING SAUCE (for Pulled Pork)

Just finished reading this entire thread as well.  I have been off the forum for a while (working out of state), but have kept up with the email updates.  This FS sound great and has gotten raved reviews.  It has inspired me to smoke a butt or 2 Saturday, along with some BB ribs and corn on the...
