Hello All

I am new to smoking, I came across this site while trying to figure out what type of unit to purchase. Any advise? I am on a budget of less that $400 and have no experience as to what to look for.

I recommend 2; you choose which fits your needs best. I have both units and both are good, and am comfortable recommending either unit.

First off welcome to SMF.  I personally like the smoke vault 24" myself. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Welcome aboard!

You are gonna love the information on the smokers here.

I have a MES 40, and a Klose 24" X 36".  Both have their strengths, but the Klose is s stick burner, and MUCH more expensive that your budget allows right now.

You could certainly by a MES e30 or 40 for that amount.

You could also consider building your own drum smoker.  A barrel can be had for about $15.00 - $20.  Then just a few bucks more for Eye bolts and grates and you have created a masterpiece.

Good luck.
