My grandparents bought a farm in the early 70's and on the property was a solid rock smokehouse with metal roof.  It was built basically like most rock foundations from the early 1900's.  I'm guessing it was built sometime after the original house in 1911.  Long story short, the smokehouse was taken down shortly after the property was purchased.  Was wondering if anyone has seen or built something similar to what I am describing?  I googled stone smokehouse and there are some good examples of what I am talking about under the images tab.  I would like to recreate this at some point in the future as the farm is still in the family.  I think it would be neat to bring it back.  All the rocks from the smokehouse are still there with some of the foundation still existing.  Just thinking out loud.....

My Grandparents' farm has one.  It is about 25X30.  It really looks more like an old one room cottage with a fireplace.  This farm is from the early 1800s and the smoke house is original to the property.

Makes sense, I'm only 90 minutes from you.  I live near Raystown Lake.  In doing some research, it seems this style was very popular here in Pa.
