Reverse Flow chimney mod???? Will it work???

I recently purchased an Oklahoma Joe Highland grill from Walmart. I am setting it up with reverse flow. I have had a plate and water pan combo fabricated and will be installing that. Instead of cutting a new hole and moving the chimney to the other side can I use 3" duct and run it across the top and down to grate level? Not sure if it will draw enough.
