Apparently the term pork butt is too uncouth for our fragile sensibilities here in the northwest, because I've never ever seen anything labeled "butt" at local grocery stores, and the butcher at the one I asked about had no idea what it was, so I'm wondering is there another name that I should be looking for? Pork Shoulder maybe?

I did pick up a pork loin roast that I'm looking forward to smoking though.

Boston Butt, Pork Shoulder, both are one in the same. I still don't know why they call a shoulder cut Boston Butt.

Here in So. Cal. it's usually listed as Boston Butt or Pork Shoulder, anyway you call it... it's good smokin'.
