Well, I got a Traeger, then built a double barrel, then  decided the wooden smokehouse would be fun to build. I used White board framing and Western red cedar for the build. Just put a small smoke in it today just to see how it vents. More pictures of the build will be added later.

It looks great!  Especially with the smoke rolling out of it.  I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.

Well here are some pics of the build process, sorry if this doesn't turn out so great.

Poured a concrete pad and then test fit the cinder blocks. Used an 8 inch clay flue .

I have a new respect for anyone that works in the masonry field. However my 11yr old daughter and I had fun putting this up.

I'm terrible at brick laying but I used enough of it and fireclay it seems to be holding so far!

Well so far so good she seems to work!

Thanks One Eyed Jack, yesterday we cut some battens to cover up the gaps in the cedar planks. In the few weeks we've had this up outside the wood settled as I was told to expect. We left the battens short so we still have some venting up toward the top. I also cut up some expanded metal for some racks and put in some dowels on the inside.

daughter wanted me to put up this old No.7 barrel plank and horse rack for good luck along with Old Glory. We used some scrap pieces to make a easy slide lock for the door since my 2yr old started to treat it as a play house.

Looks to me like your masonry skills were good enough for the job.

Great looking Thanksgiving day smoke.  [IMG]

I enjoyed the video Joe.  Looks to me like you've built a fine smokehouse.  Post up some pictures of your smoke projects when you get a chance.

Well added some extra's on the exterior today. Posts for the roof overhang, a shelf for wood or food tray and some other small odds and ends. Got a chicken and some salmon in there right now for dinner!!!

Well because I can't leave well enough alone, I'm wondering about putting a cut piece of chimney stove pipe in my clay flue to help protect it from the heat in the firechamber, incase I try to hot smoke with it and get the firechamber really hot. Or go with plan B and have a firebox in the bottom of the cinder block portion of the smoke house. Any thoughts???

I don't know the correct answer to your question but, if it was me and the project didn't seem too big, I would do it just for cheap insurance.
