Matt's Smoked Meatballs

    My younger son, Matt, is at it again with the Bradley. Today he's smoking store bought meatballs and hot dogs. He decided he wanted an asian meatball sammie. He chose to dust the meatballs with chinese 5 spice powder and smoke them with oak. They are being smoked at 230 and will be checked in 2 hrs.

    Chinese 5 spice on meatballs then smoked, sounds good.
    And I have to admit, not only do I love smoking hot dogs, but they are even good after being chilled and straight from the fridge. A chilled smoked meat snack.

    One of my favorite things to smoke is the Hotdog and I love meatballs. great idea with the 5 spice. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

    Points for the good idea.

    One hour in to the smoke. The meatballs are getting crunchy on the outside so Matt decided to spritz them with beef broth.

    Hot dogs are finished.


    Making the sauce. He used a jar of grape jelly, a jar of chili sauce and lots of shakes of Chinese 5 spice powder.


    Finished and in the pan to heat.

    Dinner. Completely cooked by Matt. I love not having to cook once in a while. [​IMG] I'm proud of him. [​IMG]

    Dinner got 4 [​IMG]. Matt is very happy with it and when I asked him if he would do it again his answer was yes. I also asked him if he would change anything and he said no, he liked it exactly the way it was.

    My favorite part is I didn't have to cook. [​IMG]
