Ya we have a couple here in Lakeland FL also and I to dont think its that great. My 1st brisket I ever made was better then the ones I've had from Sonny's. But I guess it could vary from location to location.

Sonny's for good brisket. How much for a hundred cause you are on some good drugs...... I don't even drive on the same road that there's a Sonn'y bbpoooopoooo. Now you will learn how to smoke a brisket here that if you think that sonny's is good this one will blow them soooo far out of the water that you too want want to eat at any BBQ restaurants anymore.

That is the down side to learning how to do your own smoked meats...... you realize all those places you used to enjoy now serve overpriced garbage... lol. Like the say, a little knowladge can be a dangerous thing... heh-heh.

I have to bite my tounge at BBQ places now so I don't try start telling them what they are doing wrong... lol.

very well said!!

Yea Im going to have to bump this. 2 years later and I still havent tasted brisket like their chopped marinated brisket.

Most brisket smoked on the grill is dry. Some is moist and fatty but theirs is almost like pulled pork but marinated just right and the stuff just melts in your mouth.

You need to get one for sure... once you've had a 'good' home cooked - fresh Brisket , you'll never go back to a BBQ place. Nothing better than fresh Ribs right off the Smoker , Brisket too , siting around all day in it's grease does something to it and disappoints you.

Fresh is better...

Yeah, Heaven...

Waytoodeep3,

Sounds like you just have not had a good home pit smoked brisket if they are all too dry.  Should be much better than Sonny's any day.  You know they cook those way in advance and soak them with their finishing sauce before serving to make them moist (also know as the juice/grease at the bottom of the warmer pan).  Fresh is much better.
